Dawn Rose Bio

Dawn Rose

Dawn Rose is a northern California singer-songwriter with two all original CD’s - “Step by Step” and “These Days.” Blending alt-rock, folk, and blues she writes about life, love and the world. She showcases her songwriting with live shows, a Dawn Rose Pandora station, permanent song placement on Songvault.fm and has been a member of the West Coast Songwriters Association.

Dawn has lived in the Napa Valley since 1992, where she performed at wineries and events with the group “Sweet Burgundy,” rocked her original music with the "Dawn Rose Band" and played numerous intimate solo shows. In January 2021, while performing was still on hold,  she released the single, "Happily Whatever After" followed by the music video. In February that year she released a protest song dealing with the actions of our former President, only on video called, "Stand Up."

Currently, Dawn is performing as a solo artist, while exploring new avenues for her music and recording in her home studio.

Solo Performances

As a solo act, Dawn can go full singer-songwriter playing all original music or a blend of classic to current acoustic-rock covers and her own tunes. She plays clubs, parties, wedding ceremonies, sailboats, campfire sing-a-longs, you name it! She is more than willing to learn that special song for your event with advance notice. She usually works with guitar (easier to travel with) but does also play piano.

Sweet Burgundy

With intricate harmonies, dueling acoustic/electric guitars and rocking bass lines, this four piece group played amazing versions of acoustic rock, blues and pop favorites – from the 40’s to the present, plus their own rock and blues originals. Dawn Rose and Kathleen Potthoff started the group in 2004, adding Lynda Amen a couple years later. The band recorded three CD’s - “Tattooed Melodies,” “The Second Glass,” and “Sweet Burgundy.” In 2016 Mark Larson was added to the line up, playing lead guitar and adding to the vocal harmonies. They performed mostly in the wine country (Napa and Sonoma counties,) but have traveled as far away as the Cayman Islands for special clients.

As of 2024, the band is no longer performing - all members are working on other projects. Good news - you can listen to and purchase five of Dawn's original songs recorded with Sweet Burgundy on the Music page.
